Dear Parents,

I look forward to teaching your students and welcome your participation in their education through this site. Please feel free to add to the suggested reading list and history links. Any suggestions or thoughts you may have can be shared on the discussion page or emailed to me directly at kate@hohorst.net

I would like to provide you with some background information. I am a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and am currently enrolled in the UMUC Educational Technology masters program. I had a fun career in banking which took me around the world. I recently switched gears and decided to pursue my life long dream to teach high school history. I have a wonderful husband, six grown children and two dogs. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to teach your children.

I speak Spanish , French, Portuguese, and Catalan. I can probably also understand Italian, anything else I will need to refer to my Google translator.

Please let me know as soon as possible if your child requires any special accommodations. We will find a way for everyone and we can provide programs tailored for any students learning abilities. All students will use an I Pad and submit their work through the class Wiki. No more... I forgot my homework or text book. Students just log on and all material is at their fingertips! For students who do not have a computer and internet at home, they must stop by the School Technology Office and request a 3G netbook or laptop. There is no charge for this rental service.

Please see the community link to consider different ways to participate in school life

Sincerely Yours,

Kate Hohorst
